Surprise

Its been a while since my last post, seems like an age. I have not been slacking, just not completed any of the projects I have been playing with lately. I've so many ideas buzzing around in my head and so many bits of experimental projects, its like that sometimes but all good fun.

On Sunday I picked up a copy of the new Get Stamping magazine, a nice selection of clear stamps with the magazine to add to my collection. One works nicely for this week's Less is More challenge which is a simple sketch by Jen :

Here is my card that I will enter in the challenge :

The word stamp was free with the magazine and was stamped with grey versafine ink and the word surprise highlighted with a red pen. Mounted on black card with red ribbon. Add the birthday sentiment and red button. I like the simple layout, very minimalist.
I probably should not have taken the photo of a white card on a white background but too late, it is done.
Enjoy.

Ally Pally Recovery Day

I had a day off work today which was just as well since I went up to Alexandra Palace yesterday for the Big Stamp show. Fantastic day, the first time I have been and I certainly want to go again next year as the show is so huge there just isn't the time to browse everything and watch the demos. I came home with a bag full of goodies and wanted to spend some time playing with them today.

I caved in and bought the PaperArtsy Eclectica set ELB03, I had my eye on that one for a while. Isn't it annoying when you think you have loads of time to play but in fact the day just flies by and all you have to show for it is one little project. Here it is, a tag using my new stamps.

Stamps : PaperArtsy Eclectica ELB03
Background : Distress inks - Worn lipstick, wild honey and vintage photo, spritzed with water, just a little bit.
The main image is stamped in black archival and the smaller tulip heads in saffron archival ink. I stamped the main image again on white cardstock, coloured them with distress markers and cut out the flower and leaves and attached them with Pinflair glue gel to raise them.
The ribbon is Inkylicious chalk white crinkle ribbon, another acquisition from yesterday's outing, coloured with matching distress ink.

Running out of time today, I guess I should have taken two days off!!

Spring

I should really be going to bed but I am wide awake so I have decided to post my entry for this month's Show us your Twinchies challenge 4 entitled Spring.

For the background I used a black fine micron pen to draw the faux stitching grid and coloured the grid lines with a promarker. It sort of reminds me of floral duvet covers. The tiny flowers are from an element on a WOW set, stamped using worn lipstick distress marker. The bird is from a Polka Doodles set that was free with a magazine, I've used this little bird lots of times, isn't he sweet. He is stamped onto white cardstock and the body cut out, coloured with Promarkers and raised on foam pads.

Lets hope the weather warms up a bit at the weekend and we can all get out and about and enjoy the Spring.
